December 2024 brought significant DSAR workflow enhancements, new assessments version control capabilities, consent banner accessibility improvements, and a host of new integrations.

Welcome to DataGrail’s monthly release notes! For December, our team really leaned into the giving spirit—delivering heaps of helpful enhancements, quality-of-life improvements, and new integrations.

New to the DataGrail Privacy Platform in December

Data Subject Access Request (DSAR) Workflow Enhancements

DataGrail Request Manager is the #1 DSAR solution on the market, and we plan to keep it that way. That’s why we continue to ship a steady stream of enhancements and quality-of-life improvements that help brands automate privacy requests at any scale.

Deny request and trigger an email to the data subject
Privacy teams occasionally need to deny a request because it was submitted as a duplicate or they need more information before it can be processed.

Now you can deny a request at any point during the validation phase and use a customizable email template to securely notify the data subject and provide context on why it was denied.

Add additional files and information to DSARs
Some requests require additional files or information outside of what is extracted automatically via the integration; however, you may receive information while integrations are still processing.

Now you can use the “misc files” field to upload additional files at any point of the extraction phase of a ticket and they will be included in the data subject access request. Read the docs to learn more.

Mark deletion requests complete while processing continues

Some API integrations require additional time to process a deletion request. This can delay a ticket from being marked complete and disrupt your team’s prioritization process.

To help address this, we’ve added a new configuration option that, when enabled, allows the ticket owner to mark a deletion request complete as soon as the integration begins processing. If your team prefers to wait until processing is complete to mark the request complete, that option is also available. Read the docs to learn more.

DataGrail Consent Banner Accessibility Updates

We’ve added accessibility enhancements to the DataGrail Consent banner to provide an even better experience for website visitors who depend on screen readers or keyboard navigation.

• The “X” button is now announced properly by screen readers.
• Users can close the banner with the ESC key.
• Category selections can be collapsed and expanded with the keyboard.
• The clickable area for each toggle has been reduced to fit the toggle width.

These updates will take into effect the next time you publish changes to your websites.

Version Control for Assessments

Risk Monitor now includes version control and editing capabilities for assessments.

When you need to edit an approved assessment, you can now simply create a new version that preserves all previous answers and contributors and still maintain access to all previous versions.

New Integrations

Our industry-leading integration network continues to grow. We’ve added new integrations to help you automatically access and delete personally identifiable information (PII).
