DSRs by U.S. State Law
Seven new U.S. state laws went into effect in 2024 as state lawmakers hurried to pass legislation to meet growing demands. As a result, 41% of DSRs in 2024 came from states with active privacy laws - an increase of 229% from the 12.5% of DSRs we received from states with active privacy laws during 2023.
For U.S.-based DSRs in 2024:
- 41% came from states with active privacy legislation (10 states)
- 23.5% came from states without active privacy legislation and no legislation proposed or under review (17 states)
- 23.1% came from states with proposed privacy legislation in a review/discussion stage, but not yet passed (13 states)
- 12.4% came from states with passed legislation that wasn’t yet active in 2024 (10 states)
