May 2025 brought new Processing Activities capabilities in Live Data Map, new DataGrail API v2 for deeper DSR automation, mobile-friendly data subject verification, and more.
Welcome to DataGrail’s monthly release notes.
May brought powerful new tools to help privacy teams manage data more flexibly and efficiently. We introduced Processing Activities in Live Data Map to streamline data mapping and compliance reporting. We also enhanced our Request API for deeper integrations and made mobile verification smoother for data subjects.
Let’s get into it.
New to the DataGrail Privacy Platform in May
Processing Activities in Live Data Map
Data mapping is a cornerstone of privacy compliance, but it often requires flexibility to meet diverse regulatory and organizational needs. With the introduction of Processing Activities in Live Data Map, DataGrail empowers privacy teams to manage data processing records more efficiently and at scale. (For existing customers, note that “Processing Activities” has replaced “Business Processes” throughout the app).
These enhancements enable privacy teams to view their data inventory at the processing activity level, making it easier to surface risks and manage business insights, while also enabling customers to easily produce and manage Records of Processing Activities for GDPR compliance.
By decoupling system data from business processes, teams gain the flexibility to:
- Bulk add and manage processing activities independently of systems.
- Assign systems to processing activities in bulk, facilitating a more organized data inventory.
- Edit and archive processing activities as your data landscape evolves.
Processing Activities is now available in Live Data Map. Read the docs to learn more.
In the coming weeks, we’ll add the ability to:
- Generate an audit-ready GDPR RoPA output with minimal manual intervention.
- Edit and manage a RoPA at the Processing Activity level.
New DataGrail API v2
In our ongoing efforts to enhance privacy governance, DataGrail has introduced DataGrail API v2, offering expanded capabilities for managing Data Subject Requests (DSRs) at scale. This update provides more granular access to DSR data, enabling teams to integrate seamlessly with internal systems and automate workflows more effectively.
With the v2 API, customers can now:
- Retrieve a comprehensive list of privacy requests, complete with filters to narrow down searches.
- Access detailed information for individual requests, including all intake data and custom question responses.
- Manage privacy request policies and integrations associated with specific requests.
- Update integrations for particular privacy requests, streamlining the process of unblocking further processing.
These enhancements empower organizations to synchronize ticket statuses with internal tools like ServiceNow or JIRA, enforce completion of integrations to facilitate subsequent processing, and develop advanced reporting mechanisms.
By integrating DataGrail into your existing privacy stack, you can achieve greater visibility and control over your DSR workflows.

Mobile friendly data subject flow
DataGrail has enhanced the mobile experience for data subject verification requests. Previously optimized for desktop, both phone and email verification flows are now fully responsive, ensuring a seamless and user-friendly experience across devices. Users can now seamlessly verify deletion requests on mobile devices.
