What’s New from DataGrail This Month

Sammi Reinstein, June 10, 2024

May 2024 release highlights multi-level nested conditional logic for Risk Monitor, a new machine learning model improving speed and accuracy, and more.

Welcome to DataGrail’s monthly release notes! May was packed with exciting ships from the product team including improvements to Risk Monitor to make filling out assessments faster and less error-prone, new machine learning capabilities, and more.

Let’s get into it. 🚀

Key feature improvements released in May

New Risk Monitor features: save time and ensure greater accuracy in assessments

Risk Monitor helps companies stay ahead of potential data privacy risks using intelligent workflows, auto-populated fields, and complete workflow visibility. In May, we released multiple features to help privacy managers create assessments faster and with more accuracy—taking out manual work and replacing it with automation.

New question types enabled in Risk Monitor template editor

Getting system owners to fill out assessments is easier said than done. Not having the right questions and answer types can make it even tougher.

Our customers wanted more flexibility to configure questions and answer options in templates. And now, it’s here. We added a single selection dropdown, multi-select dropdown, and short answer text that are fully customizable.

With this feature update, you can craft assessment templates that meet the unique needs of your privacy program and make it easy for contributors to fill out their respective assessments.

Pre-filled questions enabled in Risk Monitor template editor

DataGrail’s complete data privacy platform powers our customer’s privacy programs. It’s their source of truth. So instead of re-adding information to assessments that already exist in our platform, we’re adding the ability for customers to take full advantage of our system metadata collection to auto-populate any assessments they build.

This feature update pulls insights from our system metadata to pre-fill questions with information that already lives in a Live Data Map Inventory System Report or is already detected in our metadata. This will save our users time, ensure greater accuracy in assessments, and eliminate the risk of user error.

Pre-filled question types are now available for customers to use in their custom assessments.

Multi-level nested conditional logic enabled for Risk Monitor template editor

Lastly, we’ve added multi-level nested conditional logic into the Risk Monitor template editor.

Not all questions in assessments are necessary to fill out depending on the system’s privacy risk or business process, so it can be hard for system owners to understand which questions are relevant to them.

With multi-level nested conditional logic, privacy managers can guide system owners and contributors through the assessment and allow them to only answer the questions necessary based on their corresponding answers.

We’re excited about these Risk Monitor improvements and appreciate our customers’ feedback. You can give our team feedback anytime in-app under ‘product feedback’ in the side navigation. Click here to learn more about Risk Monitor.

Machine learning powered system detection

Our latest iteration of the system detection classification model, which DataGrail leverages in Live Data Map, increases the speed and accuracy of system detection.

Our machine learning component can now better identify a detected system and match it to an existing system in DataGrail so you can have a more accurate system inventory.

Persisting filters on the System Inventory page to increase preference flexibility

We know every customer has various preferences in how they want to see their system inventory, whether it’s sorting by “date last added ” or filtering by a specific business process. Historically, these preferred views did not persist when drilling into a specific system, meaning you’d have to re-do the filter every time.

Now, we’re persisting filters, search value, and column sorting on the System Inventory page to help users quickly navigate back to where they were on the Inventory page.
