This week’s spotlight features Liz Nguyen, our operations manager. Liz is a Silicon Valley native and has thrived in multiple administrative roles at early and mid-stage startups.
What inspires you to get up in the morning?
I’m always on the lookout for new opportunities to expand my skill set, meet new people, and experience the world from new angles. I greet each day afresh and anew.
How do you define success?
Success means the well-being and improvement of not just yourself but also your community. When others thrive, we all thrive, so working hand in hand with my team, clients, and my community means that we all succeed together.
What is your favorite part of working in the San Francisco Bay Area?
Working in the San Francisco Bay Area means being surrounded by beauty and variety. I love rubbing shoulders with some of the most creative and motivated people in the world. I love the near infinite possibility of experiencing something new. I also love being surrounded by breathtaking rolling hills and beauty of the fog.
What advice would you give to people looking to begin a career at a startup?
Working in a startup often means wearing many hats. It’s important to be in constant communication with your team and love high-energy, fast-paced work that requires you to turn on a dime.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I’ve recently been dabbling in calligraphy and would love to dive deeper into typography and designing new font styles. There’s really something so captivating about a craft so refined.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy discovering new restaurants, seeing live music, playing my ukulele, board games with my friends, and traveling to new destinations.
